MandE Irish Flute
Price:
€349.99
1 Irish D flute, made by Michael Cronnolly in Mayo. The flute is in polymer, with a sound almost identical to that of a wooden flute. This flute is easy to play, and is a great entry or intermediate level instrument ; it would even suit advanced or professional players as a session flute.
It's based on a Rudall and Rose model, so has a "big" sound - enough to make yourself heard over all those accordions & fiddles! The lower notes & "hard d" are rock solid, and the intonation is good throughout the scale.
The polymer flute has the advantage of being very rugged & not needing much care (other than a wash out with warm water from time to time) Wooden flutes tend to "dry out" if not played enough, and the wood can expand or contract with changes in temperature, causing the instrument to crack. Polymer flutes will never crack, don't need much warming up time and will not lose their tone or go out of tune if left unplayed
