Irish flute player

Born in 1880 in Tarmon, Co Leitrim, John McKenna worked in the Arigna coal mines before emigrating to the States in 1911, where he settled in New York. He made 60 recordings (78s) between 1921 and 1937, including several duets with violinist James Morrisson. He was among the first to make recordings of Irish traditional music, with James Morrisson (fiddle), Patsy Tuohy (uilleann pipes) and other emigrant musicians, at the time of when Francis O'Neill's book "The Dance Music of Ireland.

Breton and celtic music 

avelglas.jpgIn 2003, three "Bretons at heart", Brigit (diatonic accordion, whistles and vocals), Bruno (bass and vocals), and Manuel (acoustic guitar), created  the group Avel Glas, with their own repertoire mixing Breton and Celtic tales, traditional songs and compositions. The group created their first show, Blue Wind, acclaimed by the press and public :  dynamic, festive music with an intimate side.

zirmat.jpg Zirmat est un groupe de musique celtique aux influences d'Irlande et  de la Bretagne. Composé de 8 musiciens, le groupe s'est constitué en 2002; le nom vient du mot "Yermat",  ou santé en Breton.

"Une idée entre copains nous a emmené, de fil en aiguille, dans cette belle aventure": aventure qui abouti, en 2005, à sa première participation au FIL (Festival Interceltique de Lorient) . Expérience ENORME, selon le groupe; on veut bien les croire!
